Entry 20 — How to Stay Calm When Life Feels Chaotic
Whether the storm is internal or external, it can always be mastered with calm. Anxiety, fear, and panic are emotions. While they can leave lasting psychological impressions, with proper care and attention, these can also be healed.
As far as I was concerned at the time, I was already living in chaos. So, I might as well get something from it instead of simply wiring myself into pain and confusion.
The First Relief: Disabling Mental Noise
The first time I truly felt relief from my inner chaos was when I watched a short video by Sadhguru, the Indian mystic, discussing “mental noise.” He explained that thoughts fuel emotions, and emotions fuel thoughts, creating a constant feedback loop — a mental signal that reverberates outward into the universe. Sadhguru compares mental chatter to typing on a keyboard or typewriter. You keep tapping away—chakachaklakitik—and the mind fills itself with endless input. The only way to stop this loop is simple: stop typing. When you stop thinking, you remove the inputs, and naturally, the outputs cease. It’s like computer basics: garbage in, garbage out. No input, no output. Silence in the mind brings relief from the mental noise.
The principle is simple: we attract what we are, not what we are trying to be. A magnet pulls other magnets, not rocks. Your internal state, not your intentions, determines the signal you emit.
Observing Without Judgment
Here’s a simple, practical exercise to build self-awareness and calm your mind:
- Sit or lie down comfortably with a notebook nearby.
- Observe your thoughts without fighting them. Notice when your mind drifts, and consciously bring your attention back.
- After the session, write down your observations—thoughts, feelings, or distractions that arose.
Over time, you’ll notice that most thoughts are external influences, random mental chatter, or inherited fears. This practice helps you distinguish what belongs to you and what doesn’t.
I know you’re probably rolling your eyes right now—another suggestion to “observe without judgment.” Let me explain why this works. Usually, you’re told to simply let thoughts flow and not interfere. In this exercise, I want you to actively notice and judge your thoughts, writing down every single judgment in your notebook. Interrupt yourself as often as possible and record each one. It will feel tedious, maybe even frustrating, but that’s the point. By the end, you’ll have exhausted the habit of judging, and naturally, you’ll find yourself observing without judgment. It’s a paradoxical yet effective way to train the mind.
Self-Awareness and the End of Judgment
As self-awareness grows, judgment diminishes chaos. Mentally chastising yourself for feeling anxious only strengthens the emotion. Observing without judgment reduces mental friction and allows experiences to flow without resistance.
Grounding in Nature
Grounding is essential. Go outside barefoot, feel the earth, take deep breaths, and connect with natural energy. Frequencies and guided meditations enhance calming and nervous system restoration. Grounding releases excess energy and restores balance.
Transmuting Chaos with Chaos Magic
Chaos energy is raw, potent, and highly malleable. It is neither inherently good nor bad; it simply exists as pure potential. When you learn to acknowledge and channel it consciously, you can direct this energy toward outcomes such as:
- Financial abundance — turning scattered energy into focused prosperity.
- Health and vitality — converting stress and tension into physical and emotional resilience.
- Personal growth or any desired outcome — using inner turbulence as fuel for creativity, learning, or transformation.
By embracing chaos rather than resisting it, you transform it from a threat into a powerful tool for manifestation and self-mastery. This is the essence of chaos magic: working with the energy instead of against it.
Exercises to Stay Calm in Chaos
- Pause and breathe: Take three deep, conscious breaths, grounding yourself in the present moment.
- Observe thoughts intentionally: Notice mental patterns as they arise. Write them down without judgment to externalize and clarify them.
- Ground yourself: Stand barefoot, feel the earth beneath you, and visualize roots extending into the ground, stabilizing and energizing your nervous system.
- Reframe emotions: Remind yourself that anxiety, fear, and panic are temporary signals—not permanent states. Label them as passing waves rather than threats.
- Use affirmations: For example: “I remain calm and centered.” “All energy around me serves my highest good.” Repeat to reinforce internal alignment.
- Transmute chaos: Redirect chaotic energy toward constructive purposes—your goals, creative projects, or personal growth. Channel intensity into focused action rather than letting it dissipate uncontrolled.
The Metaphysical Perspective
Thoughts and emotions are energy. They exist as vibrations that continuously emit signals into the universe, which responds in kind. By observing without judgment, you consciously alter this signal. Instead of broadcasting anxiety or panic, you project composure, resilience, and clarity. Over time, this alignment naturally attracts experiences and opportunities that reflect calm, centered energy, creating a feedback loop that reinforces inner stability.
Summary
- Emotions are signals, not damage; anxiety, fear, and panic are temporary states that can be observed and managed.
- Observation without judgment reduces mental friction, builds self-awareness, and prevents reactive patterns from controlling your energy.
- Grounding restores the nervous system, replenishes energy, and anchors you to the present moment.
- Chaos can be consciously transmuted into manifestation energy through focused intent and consistent practice.
- Self-awareness serves as your anchor; the more you notice thoughts without judgment, the less chaos can dictate your emotional or mental state.
- Chaos energy is not wasted; it is a potent fuel for growth, abundance, creativity, and alignment with your highest potential.
- True calm is mastery over your internal storm, maintaining centeredness and clarity even amidst external turbulence.
Affirmation:
"I remain calm amidst chaos.
All energy around me serves my highest good.
I observe without judgment and transmute chaos into growth, abundance, and clarity.
I am grounded, centered, and aligned, no matter what unfolds around me."
